I think I figured it out. But, I need to be at home to decrease the size of the logo. That should do the trick.

It's the logo plus the menu links on the upper right that are driving the min width of the page.

You could move that whole upper-right hand section to be below the logo, then the page can be narrower with no scrolling. just a thought :)
